The Deadly History Behind The Highest Place In Idaho
If you're into extreme sports or are an adrenaline junkie, then there's no question that you love the state of Idaho.
Idaho: One of America's Most Extreme States?
Is Idaho one of the most extreme states? It could depend on your criteria but if you like mountains, trails, exploring the wild, and even BASE jumping, you're in the right state. Heck, there are even places to whitewater raft if that's more your cup of tea.
If mountain climbing is more your style, you're in the right state.
Idaho is home to one of the highest elevations in the entire country: Borah Peak. According to VisitIdaho.org, Borah Peak or Mount Borah, is over 12,000 feet in elevation and attracts between 3,000 and 5,000 climbers a year.
For obvious reasons, Mount Borah is popular but as the case is with any extreme sport, it has its risks. To prevent this, VisitIdaho.org has an excellent guide on things to bring and what to watch out for, even going as far as recommending that you train yourself before making the climb.
Unfortunately, Mount Borah or Borah Peak has a dark history that is both sad... and deadly.
