Hard as it is to believe 2023 is coming to an end, and this weekend will be the final days of the year. It has had good moments for some, and bad for others, but either way, a new beginning is upon us all after this weekend. As we say goodbye to 2023 and hello to 2024, it is always nice to get out of the house and have some fun to celebrate a new year. There are a few events taking place this weekend to help the residents of the Magic Valley have some fun, to end 2023.

Christmas may be over, but not everyone is ready to let go of the holiday season. If you still want to enjoy Christmas lights one more time, or perhaps now that it is over you have time to, go to Christmas in the Garden at Orton Botanical Garden. The lights will remain up through Saturday, giving you a couple more chances. You can go through the display from 6 PM to 10 PM, although the gate does close at 9:30 PM to enter. It is asked that you donate $5 per person or $15 per family. For more on Christmas in the Garden, make sure to click the link above.

One of the best parts about living in Idaho is the straw mazes that appear every fall, but as the weather drops, most of them close. The Burley Straw Maze is one of the few that reopens for Christmas, giving you a maze lit up in Christmas lights to navigate through. This past week, they announced they are adding two additional days this year, making them open this Friday and Saturday from 5 PM to 10 PM. General admission is $8 per person, with children 2 and under being free. There is more than just the maze, as there is also a giant slide, kid slides, zip lines, and more. Finding something fun to do for little ones on New Year's Eve weekend can be tough, but one thing children love and a great way to spend time as a family is going to a movie. With movie prices being high, especially if you have a lot of kids, it might not be possible. Instead of going to the cinema, how about still getting out of the house and going to Movie Matinee at the Twin Falls Public Library? The movie is free and is a great way to still get out of the house. It takes place from 3 PM to 5 PM every Saturday. For more on Movie Matinee, and everything else going on at the Twin Falls Public Library, make sure to click the link above.
