Leaving food out for wild animals invites trouble. A video of a Washington State raccoon home invasion has gone viral after a homeowner made a habit of leaving food out for them, which should be a lesson for those in Idaho who think it's cute to have visits from hungry critters.
A Washington State woman had to be rescued by animal control after dozens of these furry bandits responded to the dinner bell in her front yard. Reports of "aggressive" raccoons terrorizing the homeowner after being fed for years circulated in the Western media this week, according to Sky News.
It's very simple. Animals are like people; if you feed them they will expect food from you often, and might even get hangry if it's not provided routinely.
It got so bad for the Poulsbo, Washington homeowner that the animals would surround her car when she arrived home and scratch at the doors, according to Sky News. Poulsbo is located just outside of Seattle.
My wife and I had a similar experience with these critters after we started setting food out for them. We bought a "Raccoon Crossing" sign online as a joke because they started visiting our property nightly, but not in the numbers this poor woman in Washington attracted. Lesson learned.
