Fatal Crash on I84 Near Bliss Claims Life of 18-Year-Old Driver

GOODING COUNTY, Idaho – According to a press release, Idaho State Police (ISP) is investigating a fatal two-vehicle collision that occurred early Monday morning, October 21, 2024, on I84 near mile marker 132.4, eastbound, close to Bliss.

According to Idaho State Police, the incident happened at around 2:23 a.m. when an 18-year-old male driving a red 1997 Chevrolet GMT-400 was heading westbound on I84. The driver struck a light pole, causing the pickup to roll through the median, and came to a stop in the eastbound lanes. The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle.

Semi-Truck Involved in Collision

A 32-year-old man driving a 2003 Peterbilt with a 2021 Wilson trailer was traveling eastbound on I84 when his vehicle hit the ejected driver of the Chevrolet. Sadly, the young driver of the Chevrolet succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Ongoing Investigation

Idaho State Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash. The Idaho State Police was assisted on-site by Gooding County Paramedics, local law enforcement, Bliss QRU, Bliss Fire, and the Gooding County Coroner.
