
Missing, Terminal Idaho Man Likely Went To Woods To End His Life
A northern Idaho man who hasn't been seen or heard from since 2021 is believed to have hiked to a familiar spot in the mountains to take his own life.
An active missing persons case out of Grangeville, Idaho, has remained unsolved for close to four years now. Kelley Lee Phillips was 69-years-old when he disappeared from the small community located 100 miles southeast of Moscow on August 25, 2021.
Phillips was in very poor health, according to his profile featured on the Missing People in America Meta page. It's been reported that Phillips had made comments to friends that he knew his life was ending soon and that he wanted to visit one of his favorite hiking spots, Newsome Creek, located 55 miles east of Grangeville.

At the time of his disappearance, Phillips weighed approximately 170 pounds. He is 5'11" and has gray hair, according to the MPIA profile. He may have been camping near the South Fork of the Clearwater River in Idaho County just prior to going missing. His truck was located along State Highway 14 with keys inside and a note stating there was an electrical issue with the vehicle, according to the Idaho County Free Press.
To date, Grangeville Mountain Rescue along with local agencies have not found any trace of Phillips other than his truck, according to Yahoo News.
