Teacher Creates Uproar With New Homework Policy – Should Magic Valley Schools Do It?
A Reddit user created a huge Internet debate when they posted a new homework policy that one of their kid's teachers sent home. It begs the question "Should Twin Falls schools do it?"
The homework policy reads:
After much research this summer, I am trying something new. Homework will only consist of work that your student did not finish during the school day. There will be no formally assigned homework this year.
It goes on to state that research shows that after school homework does not equal more student success.
I am no educational whiz kid. That statement alone would cause all of my former teachers to explode with laughter, I am sure. But, I would have loved if I could have worked super hard and studied during school time, then relaxed and enjoyed more family time at night. OK, so maybe that "super hard" part is a slight exaggeration.
What do you think? Would you approve if Magic Valley schools adopted this approach?
