Many states from the south up into the northeast are preparing for a major winter storm system that's expected to bring below zero temperatures, strong winds, and several inches of snow from Texas to the Carolinas. Idaho, in the meantime, will see daytime highs spike into the low fifties soon with consecutive days of sunshine.

The weather in the United States is bananas right now. More than 200 million Americans are preparing for what could be a 'catastrophic' winter storm that's expected to drop record snowfall across more than 30 states, according the The Weather Channel.

More than 12 inches of snow is predicted to fall in states such as Oklahoma and Texas. There's a completely different weather situation happening in the Pacific Northwest presently.

Weather in the Pacific Northwest will begin warming toward the end of next week with daytime highs expected to hit the low-50s eventually (Feb 3rd through 6th), according to The Weather Channel. Those of us who know Idaho weather have reason to be skeptical, but the forecast is calling for more unseasonably high temperatures to start February.

Expect a mixture of sunshine and clouds for the Magic Valley with daytime highs near 40 by mid-week, before temperatures warm up as we flip the calendar.
