
Idaho’s Winter Will Wreak Havok On Unprotected Travel Trailers
Southern Idaho may not be getting its usual share of snow right now, but the region has been getting hit hard with familiar gusty conditions and freezing temperatures. If you own a travel trailer that's parked in the driveway and uncovered, you might want to spend a couple bucks on something to remedy that situation.
Some strange things have been occurring over the past few weeks regarding our travel trailer. We keep it in the driveway, and uncovered from the elements.
It started last week when my wife and I were walking past the trailer on our way to get our son from school. There, lying five feet behind the trailer was the license plate. It had been ripped completely from the plastic mounting pieces beneath the driver's side tail light.

Mystery two surfaced Wednesday afternoon when my wife and I unlocked the trailer looking for our son's football. Our kitchen sink faucet spout was lying on the counter as if someone had loosened it and set it there. My wife and I looked at each other stunned.

It turns out, the combination of freezing temperatures and gusty winds can actually damage fixtures inside trailers that have no protection from the elements, according to several online sources including Forest River Forums. Pressure can build up in the pipes, resulting in damage to plumbing, fixtures, and many other components of unprotected trailers.
After pouring over a few days worth of doorbell camera footage, it turns out Mother Nature was the culprit in both instances.
