WATCH: Clark Griswold Step Aside! Check This Idaho Xmas Home Out
Over the course of the next few days, many of us will be finishing up our Christmas movie marathons. One Chevy Chase film from 1989 has been a holiday viewing staple for years, and some homeowners have been carrying the exterior illumination torch for Chase's character ever since.
Once again, the visions of the holiday season have been plentiful and spectacular around my town. Every year, it seems like more neighborhoods get into the spirit by going bigger and better with exterior decorations, namely the ones that produce beacons of light. Clark Griswold was the goofy, preposterously kind-hearted Yuletide character who was written into the Christmas Vacation script by acclaimed director and producer John Hughes.
Congrats to the owner of this incredibly festive home. The neighborhood kids appear to be enjoying it very much.
Perhaps the greatest scene in the movie is when Clark has a total meltdown on his front lawn while trying to get the Christmas lights to turn on as Cousin Eddie hits town with his dog, two kids, wife, and RV. Many aspects of the film's imagery--for example, Clark hanging from the roof--can be seen in modern-day holiday decorating.
Having lived in southern Idaho for years, I've seen some very impressive attempts at one-upping Griswold by Gem State parents. One YouTube video I came across this week blew my mind. It was uploaded as a short on Sunday (December 22) from Candy Cane Lane in Eagle, Idaho.
Eagle is located 10 miles northwest of Boise, and apparently has some major holiday spirit going on. Congrats to the owner of this incredibly festive home. The neighborhood kids appear to be enjoying it very much.
