7 Events to Attend this Weekend Around the Magic Valley and Idaho
Last weekend was full of plenty of events and activities and this coming weekend there will be plenty going on as well. With Easter next weekend, the weather getting warmer on some days, and spring in full effect, there are tons of events and activities going on all across the Magic Valley and Idaho. Make sure to mark your calendars and make plans in advance, to get to as much as you can. Here are some of the events taking place this weekend in the area.
Friday, April 8 - Dark Sky Adventures
For those that have children between the ages of 4 to 17, this is an event for you. It is a perfect parent, child bonding experience, as well as educational. Dark Sky Adventures is a free event taking place from 9 PM until 10:30 PM at Castle Rocks State Park. It will consist of hiking, star gazing and learning to use your senses. It will teach you how to hike at night, as well as use a telescope to look at the stars.
Thursday, April 7 - Saturday, April 9 - Animal Days at the Burley Straw Maze
If you are an animal lover, or your children are, then make sure to head out to Burley this weekend, for Animal Days at the Burley Straw Maze. The event will be educational as children will be able to witness the sheering of sheep, attempt to catch fish with their bare hands, and learn about agriculture as well. There will be rides, tons of animals to pet, and fun activities. Make sure you buy tickets in advance as they are $9 or $12 at the gate.
Saturday, April 9 - Kimberly Middle School Craft Fair
If you are someone that loves to shop for hand-crafted items, then you are in luck. This weekend Kimberly Middle School is hosting a craft fair and all the proceeds go to support the accelerated reader field trip for the students. The event starts at 8:30 AM and goes until 2 PM. The fair will consist of vendors from Kimberly and the Magic Valley.
Saturday, April 9 - Gem State Comic-Con
Gem State Comic Con is taking place this Saturday in Boise, and for any comic book fan, superhero fan, or nerd, this is an event you won't want to miss. There will be special guests, tons to see and do, and merchandise to be bought, This is also a reason to dress up as your favorite sci-fi character as well. The event is taking place from 10 AM until 5 PM and tickets are $11 in advance or $20 at the door.
Saturday, April 9 - Mobile Vendor Expo
Another mobile vendor expo will be taking this weekend in Kimberly. If you missed out on the first two, you will want to head out to the one this weekend, as they are fun for the whole family, and the proceeds this weekend will go to support first responders and military families. There will be laser tag, axe throwing, escape rooms, knockerball, and food. The event starts at 11 PM and will run until 4 PM. It will be held at the Rock Creek Fire Protection District at 1559 Main St in Kimberly.
Saturday, April 9 - Ice Cream with the Easter Bunny
Easter may still be over a week away, but that doesn't mean the Easter Bunny isn't busy this time of year. There are plenty of Easter egg hunts taking place, but in particular is Ice Cream with the Easter Bunny in Rupert on Saturday, April 9 from 1 PM until 3 PM. The event is free, with the Easter egg hunt starting at 2:30 PM. They will be raffling off a bike and helmet for a girl and a boy with tickets being $1 for 2 tickets.
Saturday, April 9 - Burley Mom Prom
For ladies that need a night away from their kids, their husbands, their boyfriends, or maybe a single woman that just wants a night out, then make sure to check out the Burley Mom Prom this Saturday in Burley. The event is $15 per ticket and all the proceeds go towards charity. Enjoy prom a second time, or maybe for the first time, and dance the night away with your lady friends.
