It's been reported that one of America's longest-operating convenience stores will close over 400 locations in the United States in the coming months. Less than a handful of locations remain in the Gem State, so only time will tell if any will remain after the impending wave of shutdowns.

I grew up with a 7-Eleven at the end of my block. This was the 1980s, and my brother and I used to ride bikes down the road together to get Slurpees, ABBA-ZABAs, Big League Chew, hot dogs, and other snacks almost daily. I even used to crush those cheeseburgers in the shiny, foil-like wrapping that would sit under a heat lamp for most of the morning; the store was a huge part of my childhood.

There's a chance that the state will have none remaining by 2030 if these closures continue to happen.

I was crushed this week to read that over 400 North American stores will be closing soon, according to sources such as CBS News. The locations that will cease to operate were described as those that are "underperforming," according to reports. Now, since I don't have access to the financial records of all of these stores, I have no idea which ones will be getting the axe.

The brand will turn 100 years old in 2027, according to the official website. There are roughly 9,000 still operating across the country, according to scrapehero.com. I was able to find two Idaho locations online--one in Post Falls and one in Idaho Falls. There's a chance that the state will have none remaining by 2030 if these closures continue to happen. This would be truly sad, and the end of an era in the convenience store business.

Do you have any fond memories of growing up with 7-Eleven in Idaho?
