Valentine's Day has come and gone, and now we wait until the next holiday. St Patrick's Day is less than a month away, but not everyone views it as a major holiday. It is the part of the calendar where there aren't any days off work or school coming up for any time of celebration, but there is still a major holiday that is approaching. Now that Mardi Gras has come and gone and Ash Wednesday, the countdown to Easter has officially begun. When is Easter this year in Idaho, Washington, and Utah, and is it too soon to start buying Easter candy?

Unlike Christmas, New Year's Day, and the Fourth of July, Easter doesn't have a set day each year. Similar to Thanksgiving, it falls on the same day of the week, but without looking at a calendar, it is unlikely you will know when it is. Most know that once Ash Wednesday occurs, Easter will be 40 days later. The time between Ash Wednesday and Easter is known as Lent or Passover. Sometimes Easter will fall at the end of March, and sometimes it lands at the beginning of or mid-April. This year, Easter will be on Sunday, April 5. There are already baskets, candy, and other Easter items available in stores, but when is the right time to start buying?

It is never too soon to get candy of any sort, especially for holidays. One thing that separates Easter from other holidays is that, while many focus on chocolate, Easter is the one holiday that seems to focus more on fruity candies, specifically jelly beans. While these sweet, fruity candies are good, it can be tough eating them in bulk, which is why it isn't a bad idea to buy a bag now and work your way through it over the following weeks, and perhaps you could get through it before they get hard. To spread out money, it is good to buy some now, instead of dropping a lot of money at one time, closer to the holiday.
