Widespread precipitation will continue throughout the Pacific Northwest over the next several days with a new system expected to unleash heavy rain and mountain snow beginning Wednesday evening in southern Idaho.

Heavy rain has been widespread over the past 48 hours in states like Washington and Oregon due to a weather system that formed in the Pacific Ocean and passed through the Hawaiian islands. Another storm will be bringing mountain snow, showers, and the potential for flooding in southern Idaho by Wednesday.

The weather phenomenon known as Pineapple Express has resulted in a few inches of rain in the Western United States, with the system expected to die out Tuesday evening. An atmospheric river is expected to move east into Idaho mid-week and bring strong winds along with a potential for heavy rain that could last as long as 96 hours, according to current data provided by weather.com.
