Recall: Walmart Frozen Meat Patties May Contain Salmonella

Another day and another food recall. About two weeks ago I wrote a story commenting on the number of food related recalls there have been so far in 2019. The first half of the year was plagued with food recalls due to listeria and salmonella. The summer was pretty quiet as far as recalls go but over the last week there has been another surge. Ready-to-eat chicken products and a specific baby powder were announced over the last few weeks and the most recent food recall applies to pre-cooked meats from the Walmart Great Value brand. CNN is reporting that George's Prepared Foods, the company in charge of producing the Great Value brand of meats affected, knew of the salmonella contamination but accidentally sent the product out to stores.

Products affected and included in the recall listed on the USDA website include pork sausage patties and breakfast turkey patties. Specific product info with lot code and use by date info is below:

• 24.92-oz. packages containing “Great Value Fully Cooked Original Pork Sausage Patties” with use by date of 10/16/19 and lot code 1091971894.
• 24.92-oz. packages containing “Great Value Fully Cooked Original Breakfast Turkey Patties” with use by date of 10/24/19 and lot code 1171971897.
• 35.6-oz. packages containing “Family Size Great Value Fully Cooked Original Pork Sausage Patties” with use by date of 11/03/19 and lot code 1271972894 or use by date 11/05/19 and lot code 1291972894.
