With the official fall kickoff less than three weeks away, some noticeable weather changes are also on the way. The leaves are falling, football is back, and that time of year for warm drinks, flannel shirts, and crackling fires is closer than you might think.

I'll take a glass of whiskey (neat) or a Hot Buttered Rum all day on a cool afternoon over a flavored coffee with whipped cream, but I might be in the minority.

While I'm not a fan of looming cold weather, I do love early September for several reasons. The NFL season is underway, the pro hockey preseason starts soon, baseball finally gets interesting, Halloween is knocking on the door, and I can now start looking in totes for my sweatpants and fall socks. Warm beverage and peanut brittle season is also just about here. ANOTHER WIN!

Next week, the weather forecast for Twin Falls is looking very fall-like as overnight temperatures will drop into the forties for the first time in months. The high for Thursday (Sept 12) is only expected to be 70 degrees, and temperatures won't be climbing back into the eighties anytime soon afterward, according to weather.com.
