Twin Falls Sheriff To Run for Reelection
Twin Falls County Sheriff Tom Carter has announced his intention to run for reelection this year. In a statement released this morning Sheriff Carter wrote:
Since taking office in 2009, I have accomplished many goals but believe that there is always room for improvement. I strive to remain on a path of working cohesively with other agencies to provide the highest possible level of confidence in local law enforcement. I continue to swear in city officers from across the county giving them the authority to work without jurisdictional limitations and have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Elko county in Nevada. Additionally, in keeping the safety of the citizens at the forefront, a Special Investigations Unit (SIU) was created with Chief Kingsbury and the City of Twin Falls. The SIU is group of Detectives working together from the Sheriff’s Office and the Twin Falls City Police Department. To date they have been involved with over 500 arrests and the seizure of large amounts of illegal drugs and firearms. Along with K-9 teams and top-of-the-line drones for Search and Rescue, apprehension and surveillance, cutting down crime is always my top priority. I’ve joined our SWAT team with the City of Twin Fall’s SWAT to better serve Southern Idaho. It makes sense so both teams have better training and equipment.
