Southern Idaho was blessed this week with temperatures into the upper sixties, but the weather will take a turn for the worse Sunday night. By Monday night, a system is passing through the region that could deliver the first round of light snow flurries this fall in the Magic Valley.

The leaves are piling up, and the nights have gotten brisk in the southern Idaho desert. The season of frozen windshields and heated car seats is upon us.

Thursday (November 13) temperatures climbed into the upper sixties in the Magic Valley, which equated to T-shirt and shorts weather for many enjoying a warmer-than-usual afternoon for a mid-November day. These conditions will come to an abrupt halt by Sunday.

The current weather forecast for the Magic Valley is calling for a good chance of rain Sunday night into Tuesday morning. Overnight temperatures will dip into the upper twenties to low thirties for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, with a more than 40 percent chance of rain during this period, according to the National Weather Service.

If the storm system that's moving in from the southwest does produce snowfall, it will be southern Idaho's first dusting in more than six months.

Have that jacket ready for next week, as the region will see a drop of more than 40 degrees compared to this week. There's a 100 percent chance of frozen windshields by Tuesday morning.
