Good barbeque can be hard to find sometimes. A recent social media exchange between southern Idaho residents has me convinced that a great many in the region prefer to get in line at local food trucks rather than be seated by a host or hostess in the pursuit of tasty, flame-broiled grub.

When it comes to really, really good barbeque where I live, there aren't many options to choose from. I usually do my own cooking when the mood strikes, but there are a lot of grillers out there that would put my grilling skills to shame.

I've heard that the country's best barbeque can be found in cities such as Houston, Kansas City, St. Louis, and San Antonio. In a recent survey by Lawnstarter, no where on the 2024 Top 25 Best BBQ Cities in America could any Idaho cities be found. As a matter of fact, there aren't many legitimate options west of Texas. According to this survey, Texas is the barbeque capital of the U.S.

This week, I was clicking around the Internet and found myself on the Magic Valley Rants / Raves site. A discussion thread from December 26 inspired by choices in barbeque in southern Idaho was gaining momentum to the tune of nearly 50 comments.

Smokey Bone and Texas Roadhouse were mentioned as the Magic Valley's go-to spots, however, the majority of those who offered opinions on the Meta website prefer area food trucks. Some of the more popular south Idaho food trucks have been getting glowing reviews on YouTube.
