Netflix Drama Inspired By Idaho River A Good Remake Of 1994 Film
Movie watching and the holidays are a nice pairing. One film I streamed recently that was surprisingly decent was inspired by Idaho river rafting and is a remake of a 1994 action film starring Kevin Bacon and Meryl Streep.
I lost track of how many movies the family and I have watched together since our mid-December holiday film frenzy kicked off. We've easily logged 40 hours of movie-watching this month. We have seen one film at the theater this month and that was the latest Sonic The Hedgehog, which was very entertaining; after all these years, you still can't go wrong with Jim Carrey.
As far as remakes go, this one was pretty damn good. I'd give it a seven out of 10.
We took a break from Christmas-themed movies the other night and dialed up River Wild (2023). It's available to watch on Netflix, PLEX, and other viewing platforms. My wife and I watched the trailer before starting it and I remembered the original from 30 years ago. Yes, I'm old.
River Wild is one of those movies in which you just can't wait for the villain to get what's coming to him. According to Screen Rant, the remake was largely inspired by a portion of the Kootenai River in Idaho. Idaho is mentioned several times in the movie even though the film was shot entirely out of the country.
As far as remakes go, this one was pretty damn good. I'd give it a seven out of 10.
