Former Idaho Running Back Criticized For Poor NFL Start
As the National Football League enters into its fourth week of play for the 2025-26 season, one top 10 draft pick that played college ball in southern Idaho is being heavily criticized for what some believe to be a dismal start to his professional career.
Idaho fans of former Boise State Bronco running back Ashton Jeanty have been no doubt hearing the gossip surrounding the first pick by the Las Vegas Raiders (6th overall) circulating over the sports airwaves.
Through his first three games, Jeanty is averaging three yards a carry, according to statistics provided by ESPN. He has yet to reach 200 yards rushing, which he was basically averaging a game his final year in Boise.
Raiders' Ashton Jeanty Viewed As Early Disappointment By Some NFL Analysts

The Raiders began the season with an impressive victory against the New England Patriots, but followed that up with two straight losses. While he's had a few impressive runs that show glimpses of a bright NFL future, Jeanty has been getting less that 20 carries a game. The offensive line has been absorbing most of the blame for Jeanty's sluggish start, but some analysts are pointing the finger directly at the 21-year-old rookie.

Analyst and former NFL player Ryan Clark has described Jeanty as lacking 'that pop', to be an effective ball carrier in the league. Others, such as former Detroit Lions quarterback, Dan Orlovsky, have come to Jeanty's defense and placed the blame on the big men up front.
Jeanty had a remarkable career at Boise State rushing for over 4,700 yards with 56 touchdowns in three seasons, according to the NCAA. He was the first running back taken in the NFL draft back in April.
