Boise State Broncos Begin 2025-26 Football Season Next Week
The Boise State Broncos football team will begin its 2025-26 quest for the Mountain West championship and a bowl game next week.
For BSU football fans, the wait is almost over as the Broncos get ready for the week one matchup with a road game more than 2,600 miles away. Boise State plays South Florida on Thursday (August 28) in Tampa.
The Broncos are led by head coach Spencer Danielson, who took over mid-way through the 2023 season after coach Andy Avalos departed.
Boise State Begins Football Season August 28 Against South Florida
Boise State's superstar running back from last year, Ashton Jeanty, was the first rusher taken (pick 6) in April's NFL draft and is two weeks away from beginning his professional career with the Las Vegas Raiders. Idaho is also being represented well ahead of this year's NFL season by the Chicago Bears' first pick in the draft, Colston Loveland, a native of Gooding.

Maddux Madsen, the 5'10", 207-pound quarterback from Lehi, Utah, will call the offensive plays from the huddle to start the season. BSU's first home game will be September 5 against Eastern Washington at Albertsons Stadium.
The Broncos finished 12-2 last season and won the conference. The University of Nevada-Las Vegas (UNLV) finished second with an 11-3 record. The biggest game of the year for BSU will no doubt be the October 4 matchup against Notre Dame from South Bend, Indiana.
