Opinion: Idaho Is Home To The Best College Player Seen In Decades
The Boise State Broncos are playing some of the best football they've played in years and are tied for first place in the Mountain West Conference. The reason they've scored over 160 points in the past three weeks is solely due to an unbelievable talent at the running back position, and one we haven't seen dominate so effortlessly since the great Barry Sanders suited up for Oklahoma State in the late eighties.
Get to know the name Ashton Jeanty if you don't already. He's the ridiculously talented starting running back for the Boise State Broncos and has quickly risen to the top of the Heisman Trophy hopeful list in the past month. As a sports memorabilia collector, I've been paying attention to his season very, very closely.
I hope Idaho sports fans appreciate the level of talent that is currently wearing the number two for the Broncos, and if you get a chance to attend a BSU home game before the season ends, just go and don't think twice about it.
Ashton Jeanty might be the best college running back we've seen in literally decades. His current season stats through five games are 95 carries, 1,031 yards, and 16 touchdowns, according to ESPN. The Broncos' 2024 season isn't even halfway over with eight games remaining, which is astonishing. Jeanty is averaging an absurd 10 yards per rush; he broke both the school's rushing yards in a single game and touchdowns in a single game records this year.
The sports world has taken notice of Jeanty's dominant season. Jeanty was recently the topic of conversation on former Denver Broncos' all-pro tight end Shannon Sharpe's podcast. He's being compared to Barry Sanders, and anyone who follows football knows you don't just compare anyone to number 20.
Jeanty's sports cards are skyrocketing in price. I know, because I bid on one (don't tell my wife) but lost out once the bidding got out of hand. One of his autographed cards is presently going for over $500. I hope Idaho sports fans appreciate the level of talent that is currently wearing the number two for the Broncos, and if you get a chance to attend a BSU home game before the season ends, just go and don't think twice about it.
